terms of use
last updated September 10, 2026
sakoon is a practice, not a treatment. these terms explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you.
these terms are an agreement between you and sakoon ("we", "us") and govern your use of the sakoon app and the website at sakoon.ai. our privacy policy is part of these terms. by creating an account or using the app or site, you agree to them. if you do not agree, please do not use sakoon.
who can use sakoon
you must be at least 13 years old to use sakoon. if you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms on your behalf. if you accept these terms for a family member under a family plan, you are responsible for their use.
your account
you need an account to save your practice. you agree to give us accurate information, keep your sign in details private, and tell us at [email protected] if you think your account has been accessed without your permission. you are responsible for what happens under your account.
subscriptions and founding supporters
parts of sakoon may require a paid subscription or a one time founding supporter purchase. prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- all purchases are processed by Apple or Google through your app store account, and their terms and refund policies apply.
- subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. you can manage or cancel in your app store account settings, not in the sakoon app.
- founding supporter purchases are one time payments that unlock the access described at the time of purchase. they are not refundable except as required by your app store or the law.
- we may change prices for future purchases. changes will not affect a period you have already paid for.
app stores
you download sakoon through Apple's App Store or Google Play, and their terms apply to your use of the app alongside these. where these terms conflict with Apple's standard end user license agreement or Google Play's terms of service, the app store's terms control for that download. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app, its content, or any support, and are not parties to these terms, though Apple may enforce them as a third party beneficiary. any warranty or support obligations belong to us, not to the app stores.
what sakoon is, and is not
sakoon is not medical, mental health, or clinical care. it is a practice for everyday stress and regulation. nothing in the app is a diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. do not delay seeking care because of something in sakoon.
if you are in crisis, do not use the app to get help. in the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. outside the United States, contact your local emergency services.
using sakoon does not create a clinician and patient relationship between you and sakoon or anyone who has advised us.
what you can do with sakoon
we give you a personal, non transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non commercial use. you agree not to:
- copy, modify, sell, sublicense, or distribute the app or its content, or reverse engineer its code
- use the app to break the law, harm others, or interfere with its security
- use automated tools to access or scrape the app or site
- impersonate anyone or misrepresent your age or identity
- share your account so others can use it in place of their own
your words
what you write in sakoon belongs to you. we do not claim ownership of your journal entries, intentions, or reflections. journal entries stay on your device and we cannot access them.
if you send us feedback or ideas, you agree we can use them to improve sakoon without owing you anything.
our content
the design of sakoon, its code, copy, artwork, audio, the sequence and structure of the sakoon loop, and the sakoon name and mark are ours and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. the practices of dhikr, breath, and reflection belong to the tradition and to everyone. our work is the way they are brought together here.
ending your account
you can delete your account at any time from settings in the app. we may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. when an account ends, your access ends, and the sections of these terms that by their nature should survive will continue to apply.
changes
we may update the app and these terms as sakoon grows. we will change the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, let you know in the app. continuing to use sakoon after a change means you accept the updated terms. we may also change, pause, or stop features at any time.
no warranties
sakoon is provided as is and as available. we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that it will produce any particular result for you. to the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
limits on our liability
to the fullest extent allowed by law, sakoon and the people who work with us will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app or site. our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars, whichever is greater. some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
your responsibility to us
you agree to cover any claims, losses, or costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your breach of these terms or your misuse of sakoon.
governing law
these terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Mateo County, California, and you agree to their jurisdiction.
the whole agreement
these terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and sakoon about the app and site. if any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. if we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later.
